The Central Statistics Office has recently published the official recorded crime data for the first quarter of 2021. The most dramatic change has been seen in the number of burglaries and related offenses: with 3,876 in Q1 2020 and 1,927 in Q1 2021, we’ve seen a drop of over 50% compared to 2020.

What’s more, the official figures for each year between 2015 and 2021, annualised total to quarter 1, show that 2021 saw a dramatic drop of 68.8% compared to 2015. The number of burglaries dropped consistently each year and is the lowest since 2015.
